In early 2000, 19th Hole Products, LLC, was born from a simple idea. Being an avid golfer and living at the New Jersey shore, I have been excessively exposed to the sun from an early age. Having friends with sun-damaged skin and a very fair complexioned family obsessed with using skin care products that have a sun protection factor, I was well aware of sun damage issues. Adding to my knowledge in this subject was my degrees in biochemistry and 20 years' business experience in the area of cosmetic and chemical ingredients and, in turn, their prices and functionalities.
The problem I noticed in the marketplace was that the everyday consumer was either purchasing high-priced name brands with effective formulations or inexpensive brands that did not measure up to my standards. My goal became to provide the consumer with products that truly protect, with advanced moisturizers and conditioners, at affordable prices.
The solution: Invent the products, keep the overhead low and the prices fair and affordable, and spread the word!
Easier said than done. However, with a type A personality, a few years' time, help from friends, my wife Sue, daughters Melissa and Jessica, and both Brad Bierman and Jim Boone, we started a new family business.

Other Important Facts
We do not test our products on animals. I test all of our products on family and friends.
We recommend patch testing our products on a small area of skin. In case of allergies or if a rash or reaction develops, discontinue use.
Our products are safe to use on all skin types and ages. However, under the age of six months or if you are unsure of personal dermatological problems or allergies, we recommend that you consult your physician prior to use. Individuals who have oily skin do not need to moisturize as frequently but should still be using a high SPF product when outdoors.

We have been asked this question many times by Companies desiring private label branding or having their logoin addition to ours. The answer for us is very simple! How much liabilty insurance do you have? Can you withstand a liabilty suit if the product is misused or in the rare case of skin or eye reactions? In addition, both you and your customers are better served by supporting a small national brand whose distribution is primarily through outlets owned by independent business people. The larger our distribution the quicker we can bring to market new and more exciting products that truly protect and condition the skin for exposure to the elements.

How do you educate/motivate the derms and their patients regarding your product lines?
We provide sun safety brochures and skin cancer awareness brochures. These explain spf, various ingredients, broad spectrum issues etc in plain english. We wrote these with the Skin Cancer Foundation. Further we do education with derms direct at various conferences.
